Approach

NOTES:

Denver ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center) will have you in radar contact above the airport at 10,000' MSL (Mean Sea Level).

RIL has a new RCAG (Remote Center Air/Ground) tower so you may contact Den ARTCC on 134.5.

RIL ILS (Instrument Landing System) is now continuously monitoring making RIL available as an alternate 24/7

RIL has a Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) available (ICAO identifier is KRIL)

Landing

Denver Ski Country e-STMP
On e-STMP days Denver ARTCC works with the system to allow maximum air traffic into the region as safely as possible. In doing this they know that several slots become available at the RIL during the day. The Rifle Reservation option is an opportunity for aircraft operators with an intended destination of the ski country airports to use the existing capacity at RIL to help give some relief to the current e-STMP arrival system.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Garfield County Regional Airport has been alotted a limited number of arrival reservations to utilize this e-STMP capacity at RIL. To request a Rifle Reservation Number please follow this process:

  1. Pilots or dispatchers must try to obtain an e-STMP reservation to the airport of their choice.
  2. If unable to obtain an e-STMP reservation and willing to commit to RIL as the destination airport, contact the FBO (Fixed Base Operator) and give them the requested arrival time, the aircraft type and the tail number. The FBO will then contact the airport.
  3. The airport will give out reservation numbers on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who have secured services with the FBO. The FBO will pass the reservation number on to you if one is available.
  4. Request for a Rifle Reservation Number should be made by 4p.m. local time the day before arrival. However, unused or recently cancelled reservation slots may be obtained until 8a.m. local time the day of arrival.
  5. If pilots use this process to "get in the system" and then divert to another airport, Denver ARTCC may cancel this process and the FBO may charge a cancellation fee for services. The unused capacity is at the Rifle Airport and pilots and passengers must commit to fly to Rifle.
